ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) Syllabus

Accredited by computer societies worldwide (including the British Computer Society (BCS) in the UK), the ECDL and ICDL are internationally recognised standards of competence that certify that a person has the necessary knowledge and skill set to use the most common software applications effectively and productively.  

Since their introduction in 1998 and 1999 respectively, the ECDL and ICDL standards have been adopted and recognised by both European and non-European countries, including the United Kingdom, South Africa, France, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Ireland, Norway, Finland, Australia and Canada.

ECDL Module One.... Basic Concepts Of Information & Computer Technology

ECDL Module Two.... Using The Computer & Managing Files

ECDL Module Three... Word Processing

ECDL Module Four..... Spreadsheets

ECDL Module Five..... Databases

ECDL Module Six...... Presentations

ECDL Module Seven...... Information & Communication

Once students pass a test in each of these modules which is quality assured by the British Computer Society (BCS), they receive their ECDL licence, which confirms their competence in computer skills and provides them with a World Wide Recognised qualification. 
 

Q. Who is the ECDL aimed at......?

A. The ECDL is aimed at anyone and everyone from 16 years to 60 years.

Q. Will the ECDL help me find employment...?

A. There are many case studies and success stories associated with the ECDL accreditation... Although It will not guarantee you a job after completing it.  It will most certainly improve your chances 100%.  

Q. Can I get government funding to help pay for my training...?

A. Yes! There are many government grant schemes available to help with the funding of I.T. training courses, most notable at the moment the governments ILA (Individual Learning Account) grants can be used to pay for up to 80% of the course fees associated with the ECDL qualification.  Please see our ILA section on this Web Site.
